A Nigerian woman, Mrs. Igiebor, recently went viral after being filmed tearing her husband’s passport at Lagos airport on Sunday, August 11, 2023. In a TikTok video, she has now broken her silence and explained why she took such a drastic action.

Mrs. Igiebor revealed that her husband has been causing her a lot of stress in their home in Italy, where they both live. She said these issues have negatively impacted her health, and in a moment of desperation, she tore his passport to prevent him from leaving Nigeria.

Following the incident, the Nigeria Immigration Service has launched an investigation. If found guilty, Mrs. Igiebor may face legal consequences for her actions.

‘’I am coming across a lot of comments, people insulting me, even my fellow gender who do not understand. I am not supposed to do what I did. I know that is where so many people got me. Why will I tear his passport? It is against Nigerian law. I know that. To the Nigerian Immigration, I am very sorry. I did it for my husband not to go back because I have seen so many things. I have gone through pain, pain that cause me heartache today, pain that gives me headache at the middle of my head. You do not know what I am going through.”

However, some people speculate that the couple might have staged the event to gain attention on social media.
