Protests in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, resumed on Wednesday, even after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent national address. Tinubu had claimed he understood the protesters’ concerns and promised improvements, but many Nigerians remain unsatisfied.

The demonstrators, mostly human rights activists and young people, gathered in front of the University of Ibadan. They held placards expressing their frustration and demands.

Solomon Emiola, a spokesperson for the protesters, explained that the President’s address did not meet the people’s needs. Emiola criticized the government’s offer of rice as inadequate, pointing out that a bag of rice costs 90,000 naira, making it unaffordable for many.

He also highlighted other issues such as soaring tuition fees, high living costs, unemployment, and ongoing insecurity, which he feels the President has ignored. The protesters are calling for more meaningful action to address these pressing problems.
