In a shocking and tragic event, Baba Jazuli, a final-year law student at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), was murdered by a gang in Nasarawa State. The 500-level student, who also held the position of Chief Judge of the NSUK-LAW Court, was brutally attacked on Friday night near Akwanga town.
The incident occurred in the Angwan Mada area, an adjacent village to Akwanga. According to Mr. Jibril Usman-Umar, a course mate of the deceased, Jazuli was ambushed by a group of unknown assailants. The attackers were armed with cutlasses, sticks, and a gun. They viciously assaulted him, leading to his death.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer for Nasarawa State, provided further details. He explained that Jazuli had boarded a commercial motorcycle in Rinze and was en route to Rinze Junction when the attackers struck in Risha village. The gang overpowered him, beating and macheting him before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving the distress call, police operatives from Gudi Division promptly responded and arrived at the location. Unfortunately, Jazuli was pronounced dead upon arrival at the General Hospital Akwanga. The police have since deposited the body at the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The Commissioner of Police has expressed deep condolences to Jazuli’s family and has vowed to conduct a thorough investigation into the murder. He assured that every effort will be made to bring those responsible to justice and provide support to the grieving family.
This tragic event highlights the increasing concern over safety and security in the region. The university community and the public are left in mourning, calling for swift action to prevent such violence in the future.
