Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has reached a significant milestone by matching Tems’ record in the United States. Burna Boy now boasts four certified singles in the US, equalling the achievement of fellow Nigerian artist, Tems.
The latest milestone was achieved with the Gold certification of “Location,” his hit collaboration with British Grime star, Dave. This certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) signifies the sale of 500,000 units in the country.
Before this, Burna Boy had already secured three certified songs in the US: “Last Last” (Platinum), “Ye” (Gold), and “On The Low” (Gold). This accomplishment underscores Burna Boy’s growing influence and popularity in the American music market.
Despite this achievement, Wizkid remains the most certified Nigerian artist in the US, with a total of seven certified singles. His dominance in the US market continues to set the bar for other Nigerian artists.
In other music news, American rapper J.Cole has celebrated a significant career milestone. His 2019 hit “Middle Child” has earned a diamond certification from the RIAA, marking his first-ever diamond-certified single. This prestigious certification is awarded for the sale of 10 million units, a testament to the song’s enduring popularity.
“J.Cole earns his first ever @RIAA Diamond single with ‘Middle Child’,” tweeted music monitoring platform Chart Data on Thursday.
With Burna Boy’s latest achievement and J.Cole’s diamond certification, it’s clear that the music scene continues to see significant milestones and growing recognition for artists around the world.
