Woman Sentenced to 10 Years Imprisonment for Burning Her Husband to Death Over Cheating – Zimbabwe

Sindiaso Ndlovu, a 42-year-old woman from Maphisa, Kezi in Zimbabwe, has received a 10-year prison sentence for the murder of her husband, Busani Ncube. The incident was fueled by issues of infidelity, leading to a tragic end.

In a case presented before the Bulawayo High Court, Ndlovu was convicted under Section 47 of the Criminal Law Act Chapter 9:23. This law pertains to murder and other serious crimes, marking Ndlovu’s actions as severe and premeditated.

Details released by the National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe reveal that the fatal incident occurred on October 19, 2019. Ndlovu and Ncube engaged in a heated argument over his extramarital affairs. Overcome with rage, Ndlovu locked the bedroom door, doused her husband with petrol, and set him on fire.

Following the incident, police were promptly notified, and Ndlovu was arrested at the scene. Ncube sustained critical burns and was initially treated at Maphisa District Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to United Bulawayo Hospital. Unfortunately, Ncube succumbed to his injuries on January 8, 2020, three months after the attack. Initially, Ndlovu was charged with attempted murder; however, the charges were upgraded to murder after Ncube’s death. After a lengthy four-year trial, the court sentenced Ndlovu to 10 years in prison.
