Petrol Price Hits N2,000 per Liter in Adamawa Due to IPMAN Strike

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in the Adamawa/Taraba region is continuing its strike, leading to petrol prices reaching N2,000 per liter.

Dahiru Buba, the IPMAN Chairman, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Yola that the strike is due to continuous harassment and unlawful seizures of petrol tankers by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

He explained that customs officers, instead of staying at the borders, are targeting legitimate businesses in cities and local areas.

Buba said this has caused financial losses, an artificial shortage, and increased prices, and the strike will go on until the NCS changes its actions.

On June 10, the NCS Comptroller-General, Adewale Adeniyi, asked for support in fighting smuggling, particularly of petrol, during a briefing in Yola.

Adeniyi called smuggling petrol across borders an economic sabotage and asked all Nigerians to help security agencies stop it.
