Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has reached the National Assembly Complex.
He visited the complex as part of events celebrating 25 years of continuous democracy in Nigeria.
Tinubu’s motorcade got to the National Assembly around 11:57 am, but he hasn’t entered the chamber yet.
Soon after the president arrived, the Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, entered the chamber.
Mr. Akpabio said the president would not speak to the chamber but would listen to the old national anthem.
He advised the lawmakers to download the new anthem.
This is happening amid confusion from the Presidency about whether Tinubu would address a joint session of the National Assembly.
On Monday, the National Assembly announced it would hold a special joint session on Wednesday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of democracy in Nigeria.
