Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo recently criticized Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, for his leadership approach since taking over the club.

During an appearance on the “Rio Ferdinand Presents” podcast, the Al-Nassr forward voiced his dissatisfaction with how Ten Hag has conducted himself as the manager of Manchester United.

Ronaldo pointed out that Manchester United needs a complete rebuild, in his view. He stressed that as the manager of such a prestigious club, Ten Hag should aim to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

Even if the team isn’t currently strong enough, Ronaldo believes that the coach should still foster a winning mindset and always aim for success.

Although Ronaldo acknowledged that appointing Ten Hag was a positive move, he didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Dutchman’s approach.

Ronaldo suggested that Ten Hag could benefit greatly by listening to advice from former players like Ruud van Nistelrooy. He argued that the club should rely on the experience of those who have played for Manchester United and truly understand its culture and how to manage the team.

He further explained that those who have been in the dressing room, such as Rio Ferdinand, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, or even Sir Alex Ferguson, should be part of the club’s decision-making process.

Since Ten Hag took charge, Manchester United has finished third and eighth in the Premier League, while also securing victories in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.

Ronaldo, who is a legendary figure at Old Trafford, scored 145 goals in 326 appearances across two periods with the club, and won nine trophies. However, his second spell ended on a sour note after a fallout with Ten Hag, which led to the termination of his contract. Ronaldo later accused Ten Hag of betrayal.
