Former Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, has revealed that star striker Victor Osimhen has yet to apologize for a disrespectful social media rant directed at him. The incident, which went viral, saw Osimhen reacting to what he believed were comments made by Finidi about him.
Finidi, who is now the manager of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United, shared during an interview that he had tried to resolve the issue. He sent Osimhen a message, attempting to clarify the misunderstanding. “I told him it wasn’t the best way to handle things,” Finidi said in the interview with Nigeria Info FM. “He was reacting to something he believed I said, but he didn’t verify if I had actually made that statement.”
Since sending the message, Finidi noted that he had not heard back from Osimhen and has since moved on. “I’ve moved on and wish him the best. Only God will judge,” he added.
When asked if Osimhen should face any punishment, like a ban from the Super Eagles, Finidi refrained from suggesting any sanctions. “He is already part of the team. We can’t crucify him for a mistake. We’ve moved on, and life goes on,” Finidi said.
Finidi’s stance appears to reflect a desire to leave the matter in the past, emphasizing the importance of moving forward without harboring grudges.
