Edo State’s First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, recently shared a message of hope and encouragement to women unable to have children, urging them to see themselves not as barren but as fruitful. Her words came as a response to a viral video where former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, made comments about her being childless.

Mrs. Obaseki addressed over 200 women from around the world during a Zoom meeting, reminding them that their value isn’t tied to motherhood alone. She shared her own painful experiences, including miscarriages and stillbirths, and offered words of comfort to women facing similar challenges.

“I dare to call you fruitful,” she told the women. “You and I are potential and proud mothers of children that will come in God’s time. Enjoy the life God has given you.”

Her words reflected a deep understanding that life’s purpose is more than just bearing children. Mrs. Obaseki emphasized that being fruitful isn’t only about giving birth, but also about creating positive impacts on others and society. “There is no point in feeling bad,” she said. “Women can fulfill God’s purpose in many ways beyond motherhood.”

The First Lady’s message resonated with many, as she urged women to take their minds off their challenges and remain hopeful for what the future holds.

Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, wife of the PDP governorship candidate, also joined the call. She expressed support for Betsy Obaseki’s message and pledged to continue her work for women and girls in Edo if her husband is elected.

The meeting was organized by Mrs. Adesuwa Obasohan, who promised continued support for women’s empowerment in Edo State.
