Nigerian Police Urge British National Andrew Wynne to Surrender

The Nigerian police have called on British national Andrew Wynne to surrender after he was declared wanted on Monday, September 2. Wynne and a Nigerian man, Lucky Obiyan, are accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The charges against them include terrorism financing, treasonable felony, cybercrime, subversion, and criminal conspiracy. A bounty has been placed on their heads.

Wynne, speaking from an undisclosed location, denied the accusations, saying he was unaware he had been labeled a fugitive. He also claimed that no formal invitation was extended to him before being declared wanted.

However, the Nigerian police have rejected Wynne’s claims. The police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that Wynne had been contacted multiple times but refused to cooperate. Adejobi also mentioned that the police had raided Wynne’s workshop, yet he remains in hiding.

Adejobi challenged Wynne to come out of hiding and face the charges like his alleged accomplices, who have already been arraigned in court. The police dismissed Wynne’s request for a Zoom interrogation due to the seriousness of the allegations against him.

The Nigerian police maintain that there is sufficient evidence to charge Wynne and insist that he must face the law.
