Nigerian Police Allegedly Declare Journalist David Hundeyin Wanted Over PIDOM Nigeria Case

Award-winning investigative journalist David Hundeyin has claimed that the Nigerian police have declared him wanted. This development is related to the ongoing prosecution of Isaac Bristol, who is allegedly the anonymous online whistleblower known as PIDOM Nigeria.

In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday, Hundeyin, along with Michael Temidayo Alade, was named as an alleged accomplice in the case against PIDOM. The statement follows Bristol’s arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 3, where he was ordered to be held at Kuje prison for at least seven days.

PIDOM Nigeria, arrested in late August, faces serious charges, including leaking classified documents, fraud, sedition, and tax evasion. According to Adejobi, PIDOM was apprehended after a petition was filed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. During the arrest, PIDOM allegedly resisted, destroyed his phone, and attempted to flush it down the toilet.

The police have now listed Hundeyin as a suspect in the ongoing investigation, while Alade is expected to testify as a witness against Bristol. Hundeyin, known for his work in uncovering corruption and human rights abuses in Nigeria, took to social media platform X to express his dismay, stating that his only crime was “Journalism.”
