Obi Ndefo, Actor from “Dawson’s Creek,” Dies at 51 Following Hit-and-Run Accident

Obi Ndefo, the American actor celebrated for his roles in “Dawson’s Creek” and “Stargate SG-1,” has passed away at the age of 51. His death comes after a harrowing experience following a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the amputation of both of his legs.

On August 17, 2019, Ndefo was hit by a car while loading groceries into his parked vehicle in Los Angeles. The crash caused severe injuries, with his right leg being severed and his left leg heavily damaged. Despite the severe nature of his injuries, Ndefo faced the situation with remarkable resilience. He spoke openly about his determination to handle the challenge, showing a fierce resolve and positivity.

Ndefo’s sister, Nkem Ndefo, confirmed his death on Facebook, expressing her sorrow and reflecting on her brother’s peaceful rest. In an Instagram post, Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Dawson’s mom Gale Leery on “Dawson’s Creek,” remembered Ndefo as a shining light and a symbol of unwavering strength.

Throughout his career, Ndefo left a lasting impression with his performances on various TV shows, including “The West Wing,” “NYPD Blue,” and “Crossing Jordan.” His legacy extends beyond his acting career, as he is remembered for his courage and positive attitude in the face of adversity.
