Two Missing Teenagers Found Dead in Ogun River

In a heartbreaking incident, two teenagers, Malik Abdulganiyu, aged 15, and Hawal Akande, aged 13, were found dead in a river near their home in the Idi-Oke community, Igbesa, located in Ogun State’s Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area. The young boys had been missing since August 28, 2024, and their bodies were discovered floating in the river on Friday.

The Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the tragic news early Saturday morning. She explained that the boys, who lived on Olaigbe Street in the Egudu Baale area, left their home on Wednesday morning to work at the Salvation Army in the same community. When they didn’t return home on Thursday, their worried mothers reported them missing.

The bodies were found in the river close to their home, and after a police investigation, no signs of foul play were detected. The grieving families have requested the release of the bodies so they can be buried according to Islamic customs.

This incident follows a similar tragedy in March 2024, where a man named Sunday Ogah from Benue State drowned in the Eyinwa River in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
