Pilot and Passenger Survive Plane Crash on Busy Road in England

Two people walked away from a plane crash in England with their lives intact. The incident involved a “light aircraft” that went down over a busy road in a small village south-east of Stroud, Gloucestershire, on Tuesday, August 27, around 4:45 p.m. local time.

According to Gloucestershire police, the plane crash-landed on the A419 Stroud Road near Aston Down airfield in Frampton Mansell. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. Both the pilot and the passenger were onboard and are being assessed by the ambulance service.

A photo taken by Mila Vukelić captured the scene, showing the aircraft lying across the road with shrubs entangled in its wings and its tail end damaged. The pilot and passenger remained seated inside as traffic approached.

The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust responded quickly, sending a double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, and an operations officer to the site. One of the individuals was taken by land ambulance to Southmead Hospital, while the other was transported to Gloucester Royal Hospital.

Eyewitnesses described the frightening moment, with one stating the plane appeared to have “nosedived” into the road, likely after stalling mid-air. Another witness, caught in the ensuing traffic, mentioned seeing what looked like a glider and shared that their stepdaughter, a nurse, stayed behind to offer help.
