‘PDP now, Obituary’ – Dino Melaye attacks Damagum again

Former Senator Dino Melaye has renewed his criticism of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a fresh attack, continuing his long-standing feud with the party.

On Sunday, Melaye stated that the founding fathers of the PDP, including Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, and Abubakar Rimi, would be deeply disturbed and likely “turning in their graves” if they knew what the party’s acting National Chairman, Iliya Damagum, was doing to the party.

He further asserted that under the leadership of Damagum, Samuel Anyanwu, and Umar Bature, the once-prominent party had devolved into a mere “obituary”, implying its demise.

On Sunday, former Senator Melaye launched a scathing attack on PDP leaders Damagum, Anyanwu, and Bature, alleging that they have utterly ruined the party.

He claimed that the trio has caused irreparable damage to the PDP, effectively destroying its foundations. Furthermore, Melaye accused the party chieftains of turning the PDP into a commercial venture, prioritizing personal gain over its role as a viable opposition party.

In his latest salvo, Melaye took to X to lament: “The PDP, the sole surviving party of the 4th Republic, has endured for 27 years despite numerous challenges.

However, its founding fathers – Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, Abubakar Rimi, and others – would be appalled and restless in their graves seeing the destructive path Damagun, Ayanwu, and Bature have chosen for the party.

The PDP has effectively become an obituary, a shadow of its former self.”
