FG Launches “Hire From Nigeria” Campaign, Targets 1 Million Export-Linked Jobs by 2030

The Federal Government has launched the “Hire From Nigeria” Campaign, a national initiative aimed at connecting qualified Nigerian professionals, skilled workers, digital experts, creatives and service providers with international employers and clients.

The initiative is expected to expand access to global jobs, service contracts and outsourcing opportunities while enabling Nigerians to work and deliver services from within the country.

Aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on job creation, economic diversification and skills development, the campaign brings together key Federal Ministries, the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), Tech4Dev, universities, development partners and private-sector stakeholders.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, said Nigeria’s youthful population remains one of the country’s greatest human capital advantages and must be deliberately transformed into a demographic dividend through quality education, practical skills, credible certification and access to decent jobs.

Alausa noted that more than 70 per cent of Nigeria’s population is below the age of 30, stressing that the country has the potential to become a major global hub for competitive talent.

He said the Federal Government was repositioning Nigeria’s education system towards practical, competency-based and industry-responsive training, disclosing that more than 200,000 Nigerians are currently undergoing training across over 1,200 skills centres under an 80 per cent practical and 20 per cent theoretical learning model.

The Minister also announced plans for a Digital Technology Academy, which is expected to train more than 35,000 Nigerians in high-demand fields, including software development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and quantum computing.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, said the campaign reflects the changing nature of global trade, where knowledge, creativity, technical expertise and professional services can now be delivered across borders without the physical movement of goods.

He identified Nigeria’s youthful population, English-language proficiency, entrepreneurial culture and expanding technology and creative industries as key advantages in the global services economy.

Formally launching the campaign, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, described “Hire From Nigeria” as a market-driven national economic proposition designed to translate Nigeria’s talent and enterprise into international jobs, contracts, export earnings and investment.

Oduwole said NATEP is pursuing a demand-led services export strategy with a target of facilitating one million export-linked jobs by 2030.

She added that the campaign would be presented to international employers, outsourcing firms, investors and strategic partners at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 24, 2026.

The Senior Special Adviser, Strategic Communications and NATEP, Mrs. Olajumoke Dan-Okayi, said efforts were underway to strengthen Nigeria’s services export ecosystem through initiatives including the National Coordination Mechanism for Services Exports and the Nigeria Talent Accelerator Network.

She added that the proposed National Outsourcing Policy, expected in November 2026, would further strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in Business Process Outsourcing, Global Business Services and digitally delivered work.

The Federal Government said the “Hire From Nigeria” Campaign would strengthen pathways for Nigerian talent to access global opportunities, while supporting job creation, attracting investment, boosting foreign exchange earnings and advancing sustainable national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
