Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the National Security Adviser’s Tactical Team, have killed more than 21 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during a major offensive in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The operation, conducted on Thursday, August 27, involved personnel from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team and newly deployed troops of 226 Battalion, Sector 4.
According to military authorities, the offensive followed credible intelligence on terrorist activities around the Kopre Mountain area.
The troops reportedly advanced stealthily through the challenging terrain before launching a precision assault on the terrorist camp in the early hours of the day.
The ensuing engagement resulted in the death of more than 21 terrorists, while several others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
Following the operation, the troops secured the area, destroyed the terrorist camp and dismantled its logistics and supply infrastructure, further weakening the group’s operational capacity in the location.
Several motorcycles, bicycles and fuel containers reportedly used by the terrorists for movement and logistics were also destroyed.
The troops recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines and a large quantity of ammunition from the scene.
The military said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to locate and rescue persons abducted by terrorist groups, including victims taken from Mussa community in May and schoolchildren abducted from Lassa in June 2026.
Military officials described the operation as a significant demonstration of the joint force’s ability to conduct intelligence-driven operations in difficult terrain while disrupting terrorist bases and restricting their freedom of movement.
The authorities commended the troops and tactical team for their courage, professionalism and effective coordination during the operation.
The military further assured residents of continued intelligence-led operations across the North-East, aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted persons and restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
