Alex Iwobi, a midfielder for the Super Eagles, has praised two new players, Emmanuel Fernandez and Chibuike Nwaiwu, after they made their first appearance for Nigeria.
Both defenders came on in the second half during Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly win against Iran national football team in March. The match was played in Antalya, Turkey.
Goals from Akor Adams and Moses Simon helped secure the victory for the team managed by Eric Chelle.
Speaking on the The Alexander Yaa Digg Podcast, Iwobi said he was happy with the win and also praised Iran for being a strong team.
He added that Nigeria did well to score the two goals needed and gave special praise to the two defenders who came on in the second half for their debuts.
Iwobi said both players performed well and stayed solid in defence. He described their display as impressive and said the win would boost the team’s confidence going forward.
