Atiku Accuses Tinubu of Turning Nigeria into His Private Business

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has made serious allegations against President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of running Nigeria like it’s his personal business. According to Atiku, Tinubu is using his power to benefit himself, his family, and close allies, turning the country’s resources and institutions into tools for his own gain.

In a statement shared by his media adviser, Atiku claims that Tinubu is now replicating at the federal level what he did in Lagos. He points to companies like Alpha Beta and Primero, which he says have been managing key sectors in Lagos and generating revenue for Tinubu’s family. Now, Atiku argues, Tinubu is doing the same thing nationwide.

Atiku also expressed his disappointment over the state of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He criticized Tinubu for keeping Mele Kyari in charge of the NNPC despite allegations of incompetence and for appointing Pius Akinyelure, Tinubu’s former boss, as the new NNPC Chairman. Atiku called these decisions self-serving and harmful to the country.

One of Atiku’s major points of concern is the NNPC Retail’s acquisition by OVH, which he described as a bad business deal. He claims the acquisition did not follow the rules set by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and questioned why the details of the transaction were kept secret. Atiku also highlighted that efforts to obtain information about the deal were rejected by the NNPC, which further raised red flags about transparency.

Although the National Assembly is currently investigating these matters, Atiku voiced his skepticism about the integrity of the investigation. He pointed out that Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who is leading the inquiry, is a known supporter of Tinubu, casting doubt on whether the probe will be truly impartial.

Atiku’s claims have sparked concerns about whether the nation’s future is being mortgaged for the benefit of a few powerful individuals, with the potential long-term effects being difficult to reverse even after Tinubu leaves office.

These allegations have ignited conversations about government transparency and the extent to which personal interests might be influencing national decisions.
