An Federal High Court in Abuja is set to deliver judgment on the controversial Blue Silks rank in Nigeria’s legal profession.
The dispute involves Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners and the Nigerian Bar Association over the introduction of the Senior Counsel of Nigeria (SCN) title.
ALDRAP created the Blue Silks rank as an alternative to the widely recognized Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
However, the NBA opposed the move, arguing it violates provisions of the Legal Practitioners Act.
In response, ALDRAP approached the court, seeking protection of its rights and asking for compensation and an injunction.
The court’s ruling, expected on April 2, 2026, will determine the legality of the new rank and its place in Nigeria’s legal system.
