The Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) has arrested 28-year-old Edet Friday for allegedly stealing a mini bus belonging to a Pastor who leased it to him for daily commercial use.
The suspect was apprehended while attempting to sell the bus at Ahor bypass in Benin City, after disappearing with it days after receiving it for business purposes.
Investigations revealed he hid the bus for two weeks and began dismantling it to sell as spare parts when he could not find a buyer.
Operatives recovered parts already removed by scavengers, including doors and the fuel tank, and questioned local spare parts dealers about the vehicle.
Friday allegedly confessed to taking the bus under the guise of commercial use but intended to sell it, prompting his arrest by ESSC officers.
Corps Deputy Commander, Operations, Richard Balogun, affirmed that the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, emphasizing that criminals will not find safe haven in Edo State.
