CITAD demands prosecution of police officers over alleged assault on journalist in Bauchi

The Centre for Information Technology and Development has called for the prosecution of police officers allegedly involved in the assault of a journalist in Bauchi State.

The group described the incident as disturbing and a violation of press freedom, stressing that journalists must be protected while carrying out their duties.

According to CITAD, the alleged attack raises serious concerns about abuse of power and the treatment of media professionals by security agencies.

The organisation urged authorities, including the Nigeria Police Force, to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

CITAD also emphasised the need to uphold human rights and ensure that law enforcement officers operate within the bounds of the law in Nigeria.

The group called on relevant stakeholders to act swiftly, noting that justice in such cases is essential to maintain trust and protect democratic values.
