A tragic explosion has claimed the lives of eight people in Niger State after a suspected terrorist attack along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area. The blast has left the community in shock and fear.
Reports indicate that the improvised explosive device (IED) went off as a vehicle was moving along the road. The impact of the explosion was severe, leading to multiple casualties on the spot.
In addition to the loss of lives, the attackers also destroyed a key bridge connecting Luma, Babanna, and Agwara communities. This bridge plays an important role in daily movement and local trade.
Residents have expressed concern over how the destruction will affect transportation and business activities, especially access to the Babanna border market, which attracts traders every week.
This incident comes shortly after another explosion was reported in Woro, Kwara State, raising fresh concerns about growing insecurity in parts of the country.
Authorities are yet to release full details, but the attack highlights the urgent need for stronger security measures to protect lives and critical infrastructure in vulnerable communities.
