Tensions in the Middle East conflict have escalated further after Iran reportedly launched long-range missiles toward a key Western military base in the Indian Ocean. The move signals a widening scope of the ongoing war.

The missiles were aimed at the joint US-UK facility located on Diego Garcia, a strategic island used for military operations. The base plays a vital role in coordinating activities across the region. 

Reports indicate that two ballistic missiles were fired, but neither successfully struck the target. One reportedly failed mid-air, while the other was intercepted or diverted before impact. 

Analysts say the attempted strike is significant because of the distance involved. The base is thousands of kilometres away, showing that Iran’s missile capabilities may be more advanced than previously believed. 

The attack is believed to be a response to increased military actions by the United States and United Kingdom, who have intensified operations against Iranian targets in recent weeks.
