Mette-Marit has said she was “manipulated” by Jeffrey Epstein, addressing concerns about their past relationship in a televised interview.
Speaking to NRK, the princess expressed regret, admitting she ignored warning signs and did not properly examine Epstein’s background.
Her name reportedly appeared in documents released by the US Department of Justice, sparking debate in Norway about her future royal role.
She insisted the relationship was only friendly, while describing some past communication as “embarrassing” and saying she later cut ties after feeling uncomfortable.
Appearing alongside her husband, Haakon, she stressed that attention should remain on victims who deserve justice.
Despite the controversy, the princess said she remains committed to her duties and confident in the monarchy’s future, health permitting.
