Iran ex£cutes man accused of spying for Israel

Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel, marking the first such execution since the escalation of hostilities involving the United States and Israel, according to official reports.

State-affiliated outlet Mizan Online identified the individual as Kourosh Keyvani, who was arrested during a 12-day conflict last June. Authorities allege he transmitted images and sensitive information about strategic locations to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency.

In a statement, Iranian officials said the sentence was carried out on Wednesday, describing the case as involving “a spy for the Zionist regime” who had provided classified information to foreign operatives.

The statement further claimed that Keyvani had received training in Tel Aviv as well as in several European countries, though no further details were disclosed.

Israel has not publicly commented on the execution, according to media reports.

Iran has long faced criticism from international observers over its judicial processes, particularly in cases involving alleged espionage and political dissent.

Last year, Iranian authorities enacted legislation classifying espionage for Israel or the United States as a capital offense, framing such acts as “corruption on Earth,” a charge that carries the death penalty under Iranian law.

The execution comes amid heightened regional tensions following the reported killing of senior Iranian figure Ali Larijani.

Iranian officials said retaliatory military actions were launched on Wednesday, with state media outlets, including Tasnim News Agency, publishing footage purportedly showing missiles being fired toward Israeli territory.

Iranian authorities claimed that some of the missiles used included the Khorramshahr-4, a long-range system capable of carrying a heavy payload. Senior military officials warned that further responses would be “decisive,” describing the strikes as retaliation for what they called the martyrdom of Larijani.

Additional statements from Iranian officials signaled the possibility of further escalation, with warnings directed at the United States and its allies.
