The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has defended some of its members who attended a political meeting at the residence of Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of the state. The party said the gathering should not be seen as anti-party activity.
The meeting attracted criticism after reports suggested that APC chieftains joined discussions supporting the second-term ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. However, the party said it welcomes collaboration with individuals and groups willing to support the president’s agenda.
In a statement issued by the Benue APC Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun, the party explained that national development requires cooperation across political lines. According to him, the APC in the state is ready to work with patriotic Nigerians who believe in Tinubu’s leadership and policies.
The party also promised to continue mobilising residents of Benue State to support the president’s re-election bid. It added that the Renewed Hope Agenda will bring progress to the country and called on political stakeholders to unite behind the government’s development goals.
