NEMA concludes emergency response after fire outbreak at Jos Terminus market

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has concluded its emergency response following a fire outbreak at Jos Terminus Market. The incident occurred late on March 14 in Jos North Local Government Area, with the fire starting a few minutes before 10 p.m.

According to NEMA, the fire affected several temporary stalls and lock-up shops within the market. Early findings suggested that the blaze may have been caused by a power surge, although further checks were carried out after the incident.

Emergency teams including the Federal Fire Service and Plateau State Fire Service quickly arrived at the scene and were able to control the fire before it spread to other sections of the busy market. Fortunately, no deaths or serious injuries were recorded.

The Head of NEMA’s Jos Operations Office, Bintu Wana, expressed sympathy to traders who lost goods and shops in the fire. Several agencies and community groups also joined the rescue and assessment effort, helping to reduce the overall damage caused by the incident.
