The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for reintroducing the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state. The party described the move as responsible governance aimed at improving public health and city cleanliness.
According to APC, the exercise reflects the government’s commitment to environmental management while encouraging residents to take responsibility for their communities. Lagos, as a rapidly growing megacity, requires collective efforts to maintain a sustainable and livable environment.
The party highlighted that the sanitation exercise has historically promoted civic responsibility and awareness of proper waste disposal, drainage maintenance, and hygiene. Its return is expected to strengthen preventive health measures and reduce environmental risks.
APC urged Lagos residents, market groups, youth organisations, and civil society to actively participate, stressing that environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility. The initiative is seen as a key step toward transforming Lagos into a cleaner and healthier megacity.
