Iran threatens wider war as Trump asks allies to escort ships

Iran has warned other nations not to join the growing conflict involving the United States and Israel. The warning followed calls by Donald Trump for several countries to send naval forces to escort oil tankers through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Trump urged countries including China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom to help keep the waterway open. The passage is vital to global energy supply as nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil shipments move through it.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that foreign military involvement could worsen the conflict. Some countries responded cautiously, with leaders calling for diplomatic solutions instead of direct military action.

The crisis has already affected global markets, with oil prices rising sharply since tensions escalated. Meanwhile, clashes between Iran and Israeli forces have continued, increasing fears that the conflict could spread further across the Middle East.
