Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has revealed that openly supporting President Bola Tinubu during the last election negatively impacted her career. She shared the experience while advising actor Timini Egbuson on promoting his movie at the Box Office.
Toyin told Timini, “Don’t put your mouth in politics. Don’t support anybody publicly. Be neutral.” She stressed that staying neutral helps maintain a wider audience and prevents backlash.
Reflecting on her own experience, Toyin admitted, “Haaaaaaa, it affected me oooo,” highlighting how her public political stance led to criticism and affected the reception of her projects.
Earlier, Toyin had lamented poor reviews and piracy issues with her movie Ijakumo, claiming some viewers boycotted it due to her support for Tinubu. She emphasized that neutrality in public matters can help protect one’s professional image.
