Invitation to City Boy rally in Owerri insult to Igbo youths – OYC

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has rejected an invitation to attend the City Boy Movement rally scheduled to take place in Owerri, Imo State. The youth group described the invitation as disrespectful to Igbo youths and urged members of the public to ignore the event.

In a statement released on Thursday, OYC National President, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, said the group could not support any event celebrating Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu. He argued that the rally comes at a time when the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, remains in detention.

According to the group, organizing such a rally in the South-East while Kanu is still in custody sends the wrong message to the Igbo community. The council insisted that the invitation to participate in the rally was inappropriate.

The OYC also criticized what it described as the display of wealth by the founder of the City Boy Movement, claiming it contrasts with the difficult economic situation faced by many Nigerian youths dealing with unemployment and hardship.
