Troops kill over 20 insurgents, recover arms, ammunition in Yobe

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation Hadin Kai have killed more than 20 insurgents during a security operation in Goniri, Yobe State. The militants were detected through surveillance as they attempted to surround a military base from different directions.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops responded quickly with strong firepower and tactical movements. During the clash, several insurgents were neutralized, including a senior commander identified as Abu Yusu, known as the Munzir of Dursula.

After the confrontation, soldiers recovered several weapons and equipment abandoned by the fleeing attackers. Items seized included machine guns, AK-47 rifles, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), bombs, and different types of ammunition.

Follow-up clearance operations were later carried out in the Timbuktu Triangle area, where additional bodies of insurgents were discovered. Injured troops were evacuated for medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.
