Defence Minister summons service chiefs as Nigeria’s security crisis worsens

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has summoned a high-level meeting with the country’s service chiefs at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja. The meeting focuses on the worsening security situation in several parts of the country.

Reports indicate that recent attacks on military bases in the North-East and the killing of three Nigerian Army commanding officers in Borno State have raised serious concerns among security authorities.

Top military leaders attending the meeting include the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, and Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Idi Abass.

Representatives from other security agencies, including the National Intelligence Agency, are also present as discussions continue on strategies to address the growing security threats.
