Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has ordered the immediate introduction of a hybrid payment system at airport access gates nationwide. The system allows both cash and electronic payments for motorists entering airport premises.

The directive follows the suspension of the full cashless “Access Gate Payment System” by President Bola Tinubu due to complaints about traffic congestion at airport entrances. Keyamo held meetings with Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) officials to implement the new approach.

Motorists with FAAN Go Cashless Cards can continue using them, while other electronic options such as POS terminals and approved digital channels remain active. The hybrid system will begin operation on Friday to ease airport entry processes.

Keyamo urged the public to adopt the FAAN Go Cashless Card as the ministry works toward a fully automated payment system. The measure restores temporary access arrangements while the ministry optimizes the cashless infrastructure.
