Dauda Lawal has explained why he decided to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress. His defection was officially announced on Monday.

In a statement released by his media team, the governor said the decision came after long consultations with political allies and supporters in the state. He pointed to the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP as a major factor.

According to the statement, the internal disputes and structural problems within the party at both national and state levels have created uncertainty that could affect governance and development efforts.

Lawal added that his main focus remains the peace and progress of Zamfara State. He said joining the APC would allow better cooperation with the federal government to deliver more benefits to the people.
