Troops neutralize kidnapper, rescue victims, arrest suspects in Edo

Troops of the Nigerian Army attached to the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and rescued four abducted victims during security operations in Edo State. The operation was carried out with support from the Edo State Security Corps.

According to Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the brigade in Benin City, troops responded to gunshots heard in a forest near Auchi. During the encounter, the troops overpowered the criminals, forcing them to flee and abandon their captives.

The rescued victims were identified as Stella Abbas, Tina Ododa, Razak Rashid and Mutanibi Kalifa. Security personnel also recovered N650,000 in cash along with some personal belongings including footwear, power banks and mobile phones left behind by the suspects.

In a separate operation in Ujemen, troops arrested a 39-year-old suspect, Omogbegha Solomon. A shrine containing charms and photographs was discovered and destroyed in the compound. The suspect was later handed over to the Nigeria Police Force in Ekpoma for further investigation.
