Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Muyiwa John Adetola as the new Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Treasury Office. The announcement was made through an official circular from the Office of the Head of Service.
Adetola takes over following the retirement of the former Accountant-General, Abiodun Muritala. His appointment became effective on Monday, March 2, 2026, marking a new phase in the state’s financial administration.
Before this role, Adetola served as the State Auditor-General and was later redeployed to head the Treasury Office. His experience in public finance is expected to strengthen accountability and transparency in government operations.
The Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, congratulated him and called for cooperation from stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition. The government described the move as part of efforts to maintain efficiency and continuity in managing public funds.
