United States Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth has warned that anyone who harms or threatens Americans will face swift action. He made the statement during a press briefing in Washington DC amid rising tensions between the US and Iran.
Hegseth stressed that the US government would not tolerate attacks on its citizens or military personnel anywhere in the world. He said President Donald Trump remains firm in protecting American interests.
The defence chief also accused Iranian leaders of focusing on missiles, drones, and underground nuclear facilities instead of pursuing peaceful development. He referenced past US military operations targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
According to him, diplomatic efforts were previously offered, but Tehran allegedly failed to reach a peaceful agreement. The warning comes as the conflict between the two nations continues to escalate.
