Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, wife of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died in Tehran after sustaining injuries during a joint US-Israeli airstrike. She had been in a coma since Saturday following the attacks.
Bagherzadeh, 79, was struck while multiple military targets in and around Tehran were hit, an operation that also killed her husband and several senior Iranian officials. Iranian state media confirmed her death on Monday.
Born in Mashhad, Bagherzadeh married Khamenei in 1965 and was a prominent figure in Iran’s clerical elite for over three decades, playing a key role in the leader’s personal and public life.
Her death marks another significant casualty in the escalating conflict between Iran and the US-Israeli coalition, which has already claimed dozens of lives and caused widespread damage in the region.
