Police arrest suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves, others in Katsina

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves and drug dealers in different operations across the state. Police said the arrests were part of renewed efforts to improve security under the leadership of Commissioner Dahiru Muhammad.

According to police spokesman SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, officers intercepted a Golf 3 vehicle along Hadejia/Kano Road on January 15, 2026. Items believed to be linked to livestock theft and drug use were found inside the car, and the suspects are now under investigation at the State CID in Dutse.

In Taura Local Government Area, a stolen motorcycle was recovered after criminals reportedly blocked a road and attacked a resident. Police said intelligence gathering helped them trace and retrieve the bike.

Further arrests were made in Birnin Kudu, where three suspected motorcycle thieves were caught and a Bajaj motorcycle was recovered. Another unregistered motorcycle was also seized in Hadejia after a suspect fled upon sighting officers.
