Pastor and journalist Olumide Akinrinlola has rejected claims that Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is the “most useless governor in Nigeria” following a wave of resignations by some of his aides. The resignations included the governor’s senior special assistant on diaspora matters, Fola Olasehinde-Vicente, and two media aides, Olugbenga Abire and Taiwo Ilesanmi Gbamila.
A controversial comment by TVC bureau chief Ayodele Ezekiel Ozugbakun describing Aiyedatiwa as “the most useless governor in Nigeria” drew criticism on social media. Akinrinlola condemned the remark, calling it unprofessional and disrespectful to the office of the Ondo governor.
He emphasized that while accountability is important, personal insults against public office holders are unacceptable, urging the media professional to retract his statement and apologize publicly.
Akinrinlola’s response has reignited debate over the mass resignations in the governor’s office and the conduct of media professionals discussing political matters.
