Senate demands immediate sack of CAC Registrar-General, Hussaini Magaji

The Nigerian Senate has called for the immediate removal of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Registrar-General, Hussaini Magaji, over repeated snubs of lawmakers. Senators expressed frustration at Magaji’s failure to appear before committees despite multiple summons.

Lawmakers described the Registrar-General’s actions as disrespectful to the Senate and a breach of accountability standards. They argued that such conduct undermines the legislative oversight function and erodes public trust in government institutions.

The call for Magaji’s sack follows a pattern of non-compliance with Senate directives, including delays in responding to inquiries and providing required reports on CAC operations. Senators emphasized that decisive action is needed to uphold the authority of the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Senate has urged the Executive arm to take immediate steps to replace the Registrar-General with someone who respects legislative mandates and ensures smooth administration of the CAC.
