Bayelsa State’s new Deputy Governor, Pastor Peter Akpe, has said he did not lobby for the position following the death of his predecessor. He made the statement during a reception held at the Government House in Yenagoa.
Akpe stressed that his appointment was not driven by personal ambition but by divine purpose. He said throughout his life, he has relied on God to direct people to support him rather than seeking positions himself.
He described the office as a responsibility to serve the people of Bayelsa with greater commitment and dedication. According to him, the role belongs to the people who desire progress for the state.
Akpe thanked Governor Douye Diri, the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, and his supporters for the trust placed in him. He promised to work faithfully and give his best in service to the state.
