ICPC denies nosebleed claim about El-Rufai

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has denied claims that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, suffered a nosebleed while in custody. The agency described the allegation as false and misleading.

El-Rufai’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, had earlier alleged that the former governor experienced health challenges during detention. However, ICPC spokesperson Okor Odey dismissed the report, insisting no such incident occurred.

El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since February 18, after previously spending two nights with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). His legal team has questioned the legality of his continued detention without formal charges.

Both ICPC and EFCC are investigating alleged financial misconduct linked to his tenure as Kaduna State governor from 2015 to 2023. The anti-graft agencies maintain that due process is being followed in the ongoing probe.
