Manchester United must go for the best class of manager despite Carrick’s 6 game unbeaten run – Gary Neville

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has advised the club not to rush into appointing Michael Carrick as permanent manager, despite his strong unbeaten run. Carrick stepped in after Ruben Amorim’s exit in January and has guided United to five wins in six league games, including victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.

The team recently secured a 1-0 win against Everton, boosting their push for Champions League qualification. Neville praised Carrick’s impact but warned that the club must avoid repeating past mistakes of hiring inexperienced managers.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said United should target the best available manager to reduce long-term risk. He referenced previous appointments like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as lessons the club must learn from.

While Neville believes Carrick can still secure a top-four finish this season, he insists the board should carefully assess elite options before making a final decision later in the campaign.
