Candidate Moses Opeisa of the All Progressives Congress has emerged winner of the Ohunbe Ward 8 by-election held in Yewa North, Ogun State. The poll involved 19 parties and took place across 24 polling units, drawing notable voter participation.
The Returning Officer, Kabiru Oyeyemi, announced that Opeisa secured 2,255 votes from a total of 3,263 ballots cast. Voting reportedly began at 8 a.m. with security personnel stationed to ensure order throughout the process.
Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, Babatunde Osibodu, described the exercise as peaceful and well coordinated. Represented by board member Ayodele Bankole, he praised voters and officials for their cooperation.
Traditional ruler Oba Adekola Oladokun also commended the commission for conducting what he called a smooth and credible election, noting that residents of Ohunbe showed commitment to choosing a councillor to represent them.
