APC Secures 5 of 6 Chairmanship Seats in FCT Area Council Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a decisive victory in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, winning five out of the six chairmanship positions contested.

The results, announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), underscore the party’s strong showing across the FCT, with newly elected chairmen emerging in Bwari, AMAC, Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji Area Councils.

The six newly elected Area Council Chairmen are:

Bwari – Hon. Joshua Ishaku (APC)

AMAC – Hon. Chris Garki (APC)

Gwagwalada – Hon. Kasim Mohammed (PDP)

Kuje – Hon. Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo (APC)

Kwali – Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali (APC)

Abaji – Hon. Abdullahi Umar Abubakar (APC)

In Abaji Area Council, INEC declared Hon. Abdullahi Umar Abubakar of the APC as the duly elected chairman after polling 15,536 votes.

His closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 4,547 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 37 votes.

The outcome reflects a significant mandate for the APC across the FCT’s grassroots political structure, reinforcing the party’s influence in local governance within the nation’s capital territory.

Further details from INEC are expected as the commission concludes collation and formal documentation of the election results.
