Troops repel insurgents, neutralise suspected informant in Borno

Troops under Operation Hadin Kai successfully stopped a planned attack after intelligence reports indicated that suspected Boko Haram fighters were gathering near Ngamdu. Acting swiftly, the soldiers launched a coordinated operation in the early hours of February 18 to disrupt the threat and secure the area.

The military strike reportedly took place around 2:30 a.m., targeting the location where insurgents were believed to be assembling. The action forced the suspected fighters to scatter and abandon what authorities described as a possible assault plan. Security sources said the intervention prevented further escalation in the area.

Not long after, troops encountered a man suspected of working as an informant for the insurgents. According to reports, he attempted to cross a defensive trench near the military position but was intercepted during the operation. He was neutralised during the engagement.

Following the incident, soldiers conducted a sweep of nearby surroundings to ensure no additional threats remained. Officials said no further contact was made with fleeing suspects, while security operations in the region continue as part of efforts to maintain stability.
